This guide is designed to help the seller with all aspects of listing and managing auction listings on BuySellGuns.com. Everything you will need to know to be a successful seller is included here. Read carefully and it will help you in your business here.

You must be a registered user to sell on BuySellGuns.com. Click here to register. In addition, you must be verified. To increase site security, we have implemented Seller Verification. Seller verification will now be required to list items on the site. This action is to help eliminate seller fraud. The process involves placing a $2.00 one time charge on a credit card. There are two ways to verify your account. You can click on the Sell tab and it will prompt you to get verified before you sell. Or you can login to your account, click on the Selling tab and then click on the Click Here To Get Verified link on the right hand side of the page. Whatever method you choose, you will be taken to a secure page to submit your payment information by credit card.

Before you being selling, you will need to properly configure your account. Login to your account and you will be taken to the Members Area of the site. This is where all of your information is held. You will notice a set of tabs accross the screen and each one of them serves specific functions.

Messaging - This is where you will manage messages from prospective buyers. By default it will take you to the messages you have received. To respond to a message, click on the buyer's username or on the envelope icon. You can type your message in the box on the next screen. Press the Add Message button and your message will be sent. Use the Abuse Report subtab to report nonpaying bidders or scammers trying to defraud you. Click on the Contact Customer Support tab for support issues.

Bidding - This is where you can manage the items you are watching or bidding on.

Selling - Click on this and a series of subtabs will open up. The Open subtab shows the auctions you have listed. Items with Bids/Offers will show all of your open auctions that have bids on them. If you have scheduled auctions to begin at a certain time, the Scheduled subtab will show those to you. The Closed subtab will show all of your auctions that have closed and will allow you to relist them. Drafts will show all saved auction templates you are using. The Sold subtab will show all of the auctions you have sold. Invoices Sent will show all of the invoices you have sent to buyers. The Fees Calculator section will show how much it will cost to sell an item on the site. Prefilled Fields will allow you to enter information that you will use over and over again when you list auctions. This includes HTML code you may wish to use. The Block Users area will allow you to block specific users from bidding on your auctions. If you think that we need to add a new category to the site, you can suggest that within the Suggest a Category section.

Reputation - This area will allow you to see feedback that other users have left for you as well as allowing you to leave comments for buyers.

Bulk - This area will give you access to one of the most powerful selling tools that we have available. It will allow you to download our bulk lising tool that enables you to list auctions in bulk from your desktop. This tool will not work on Macintosh computers.

My Profile - This tab will allow you to define the public profile that you want other user's to see. You can add information regarding your business and perhaps something about you personally.

My Store - This area will allow you to set up a BuySellGuns store. Please note that stores cost a monthly subscription fee in order for the store to remain active. You can choose which store you wish to use. There are powerful tools in this area to allow you to configure your store the way you wish it. It even allows you to define custom categories to use within your store.

Want Ads - This will show the open Want Ads that you have.

My Account - This is an especially important section and is divided into 6 tabbed sections.

1. Personal Information - This is where you enter your contact information. This information is shown to buyers who wish to complete a sale. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU KEEP THIS UP TO DATE.
2. Manage Account - Make Account Payments - If you have a balance on your account, you may make a payment in this area for your seller fees. Click on the 'Clear Account Balance' link and you will be able to select the payment method you wish to use. The choices are PayPal or Authorize.net. You can choose whichever method you wish and then are taken to that payment gateway. Either one will allow you to make a payment by credit card. PayPal allows you to pay by bank account if you do not have a credit card.
3. Account History - This area will show your account payment history.
4. Mail Preferences - This area allows you to select which email notifications you wish to receive.
5. Abuse Report - This form allows you to submit an abuse report to Customer Support. This includes other user's trying to scam you or non paying bidders.
6. Contact Customer Support - This form allows you to send email messages to Customer Support.

To start you will need to be registered on our site. Registration is fast, easy and secure. To register click here. After the registration process is finished, you will then be able to list your item(s). To being, click on the Sell tab on the homepage. If you have a store, you will be asked to select whether you wish to list on the site, store or both. Click on the Next Step button to continue.

You will then be asked to select a Main Category and a Subcategory. Make sure you place your auction in the appropriate category that best describes your item. This will make it easier for buyers to find it as they browse through the listings. You can select an additional category for a fee or skip this section.

Next, enter your auction title and description. Your title should be very descriptive of your item. Keep in mind that it should be optimized and appropriate for searches within the site. In addition the listing should be internet searchable as we submit all listings to search engines and Google Base. The description should contain all information pertinent to your item. HTML code may be used in the description.

The settings page is next and this is where you enter the settings for your auction. This is explained below:

• Auction Type - You can select between Standard or Dutch. A Standard auction is for one item. Dutch auctions should be used if you have multiple items to ship.
• Currency - This is where you can set the currency accepted for your auction. By default this is set to US dollars.
• Quantity - Enter the number of items you have for sale. If you enter more than one, then your Auction Type should be set to Dutch.
• Auction Starts At: - Enter the starting price for your auction.
• Enable Reserve - Reserve Price - If you wish your item to sell at a minimum price you can set this here. Check the box and enter the minimum amount your item should sell for. Fee applies.
• Enable Buy Now - Buy Now Price - Buy now allows bidders to purchase your item immediately, without waiting for the auction to end. Check the box and enter the price you wish for your item.
• Bid Increment - Allows you to set the bid increments for your item.
• Items Featuring - Allows you to set optional features for your auction. These features cost an additional fee. For more information see our Fees page by clicking here.
• Start Time - Allows you to set the time that you wish your auction to start. It defaults to now and for an additional fee, you can set a custom start time for your auction to list.
• End Time - Allows you to set the end time of your auction. You can use the site's preset times of 3 and 7 days or you may enter a custom end time of your choosing.
• Private Auction - By enabling this option, bidders on this auction will be hidden to site users, and only you (the owner of the auction) will be able to see the usernames of the bidders. Bid amounts will still be visible.
• Accept Trade Offers - By enabling this option, trade offers will be accepted for this auction.
• Images - You can upload an image or enter the URL of an existing image on the Internet. After selecting your image, click on the Upload File button to enter your image for your auction. Up to 4 pictures can be entered here.
• Auto Relist - This allows you to have your auction relisted if not sold. Check the box to Enable Auto Relist. If you wish the item to be relisted even if it sells, then check the box to Auto Relist if Sold and then enter the number of times you wish to have it relisted.
• Location - By default, these fields are filled in from your account information.

Shipping and Payment Page - This is where you can enter your settings for shipping and payments.

• Shipping and Payment Details - This is where you can specify on how shipping is handled.
• Direct Payment - If you have your account configured for Direct Payments, you can select which payment method you wish to use for your auction. For more infomation on this powerful feature, see the Direct Payment section below.
• Offline Payment - This is where you can specify which offline payment methods you will accept for your auction.

Preview Page - This is where you can preview how your auction will appear on the site. If you have selected additional features the Auction Fees section will show the cost of listing the auction.. You can then list your auction now or save it for listing later as a draft.

Finish - This page will give confirmation that the listing process is finished. If you wish to list another similar item, you can click on the link on this page to do so. This is a very powerful feature only available to our site and makes listing multiple items easy.

• PayPal Configuration - First of all, we need to say that PayPal cannot be used to sell firearms. If you have any question about this, you should contact them. PayPal has very specific rules on how their service can be used and they definitely do not allow it to be used for guns, certain gun parts and specific kinds of knives like switchblades. To configure this direct payment method, login to your account, click on the My Account tab and then on the Manage Account - Make Account Payments subtab. At the bottom of the page, enter your PayPal account email address. You must then set up your PayPal account with the correct IPN. Login to your PayPal account, click on Profile and then on the Instant Payment Notification Preferences link in Profile. Turn on Instant Payment Notification and enter the URL 'http://www.buysellguns.com/pp_paypal.php' in the Notifications URL box. After you have done this, click on the Save button to save the changes.
• Authorize.net Configuration - Authorize.net is an Internet payment gateway for merchants to process credit card payments online with their merchant account. To use this feature you must have an Authorize.net account and a merchant account with a credit card processor such as First Data Resources. You will need to enter your Authorize.net ID and your password. In addition you must go into your Authorize.net account and go to your Settings section. Click on the Response/Receipt URLs section and enter the following URL as a response URL: http://www.buysellguns.com/pp_authnet.php and save the changes
